Cologne.
Cologne is the oldest major city in Germany and dates back to the year 50 A.D. In the eight century Charlemagne bestowed the city with the Archbishopric of Cologne. The building of the impressive Gothic Cathedral was begun in 1248 and was not completed until 1880.
