Wieliczka Salt Mine
Located 10 miles southeast of Krakow, the Wieliczka Salt Mine is one of Poland's best-known tourist attractions. It operated until the 1990's since its construction in the Middle Ages. Today it reaches a depth of more than 300 meters on nine levels with close to one hundred ninety miles of corridors, galleries, chambers and underground lakes.
